Christian Yoga Classes
Stretching Body, mind, and spirit
Our free Christian yoga classes at Oakhurst UMC in the Foundry are all about making space to connect deeper with God. We combine Scripture, prayer, meditation, breath-work, and movement together as a worship experience.

Our Tuesday class held at 9 a.m. is a mat class mixing together gentle, restorative postures with some more dynamic movement. Suitable for all levels!
Our Thursday class at 1:30 p.m. is a YogaFaith chair class. A mixture of seated postures and modified standing postures using the chair for support, this class is perfect for people who are brand new to yoga as well as those who have been doing yoga for decades!
Body
Christian yoga is about honoring the body God has given you. In our classes, you are encouraged to honor where you are. It’s not about looking like someone else in class or being able to express a posture in a certain way. It’s all about listening well, getting a good stretch, and hopefully feeling a little better by the end of class!
Mind
In 2 Corinthians 10, Paul tells us that we take our thoughts captive to obey Christ. In our classes, we not only pay attention to our bodies, but we engage our thoughts as well. Incorporating prayer, breath-work, music, and meditation, we bring our mind to the mat as well, making space for God to challenge us, encourage us, and transform our thinking.
Spirit
We aren’t just bodies or minds, but are spiritual as well. While we stretch our bodies, we also stretch our faith. This space is meant to help us connect deeply with God and with the Holy Spirit who dwells in us through Christ. You won’t just feel better physically from these classes, but will feel blessed in your spiritual walk with Jesus as well.
